Orbs attempt number one

ISO: 1000   f/16.0   We ended up holding open the shutter for 153seconds
ISO: 1000   f/16.0   86.0 sec

This was mine, Caroline, and Haley's first attempts at orbs for our six weeks project. We wanted to have a picture with all three of our orbs. We decided to recruit Jacob Hill to drive us out in red lick to a dirt road that had a big field. While Caroline and I stood out there, Haley told us where to move. Then we had Jacob click the trigger after Haley got into place. Caroline was on the left, Haley was in the middle, and I was on the right. I actually like how these turned out. I like how we weren't in like a straight line and that adds dimension. I was really glad we got to practice some before we did our actual orbs because I learned a lot doing these.

Basketball :)

ISO: 2000   f/4.5   1/250sec

Well I've officially discovered that I LOVE to shoot basketball, even though I absolutely hate the game. I really like this picture and I got a really good critique at ATPI. Many of the critics were amazed that we had pocket wizards that we could use for games. I also had one guy think that I just had my settings on hi-speed and I just hoped and prayed for a good one, but no. I actually took this. This same guy really like how there was a reflection in the floor.
In processing, I cropped it tighter and I brought up the exposure.
The thing that I like about this picture is the girl's facial expression, and also that she actually has her hand on the ball.

Pudding

ISO: 800   f/4.5   1/50sec

Well this was obviously at the wonderful pudding eating contest with Drake and Carlye. When we got in the room, I decided to take pictures of Drake. I took this when it was over and he won. I tried to get his face because everyone was talking about how he had it all over his face. I don't really like how I had to crop so tightly around his head but I had to because I believe there was a hand or something right beside his face. I did however get to shoot with the new lens which was pretty fun.

DIVE

ISO: 640   f/2.8   1/400

I wanted to shoot swim sometime this year, so when Amy said that district was the last home swim meet of the year, I jumped on the chance to shoot it. I shot with Haley and when we got there dive was just about to start. Everyone had to told me it was quite difficult, but I still tried. I stood on the side of the pool and zoomed in with the 17-50 lens. I really liked this because it was exposed fairly well and I like that I was able to capture Ann in this pose. It makes her look very graceful and it wasn't your normal fetal position dive picture.

SOCCER!!!

ISO: 800   f/4.0   1/125sec

This was my first time shooting soccer and even though its pretty fun to shoot, it's quite difficult. After about 5 minutes, the camera battery died. -_- but the good thing was that there was a work night going on so I was able to run to the school and get another one. I like this picture because I was able to get her face and number and of course, the ball. However, I wish I would have been able to stop the ball a little better to where it wasn't so blurry. Another thing I should have done was crop it tigher. By shooting this game I was able to learn a lot and i definitely was I shoot soccer again and hopefully some better pictures.

Dalton Willigie

ISO: 100   f/5.6   17-50mm lens    1/1000 sec.

Well, I had to take a picture of this guy for newspaper. When I took him outside, I couldn't get it to focus. I changed lenses with claire and then ended up changing cameras completely. I know this guy was getting frustrated but I eventually figured it out. But i think it ended up turing out alright in the end.

Desk Pictures

ISO: 500   f/4.0   1/25sec
ISO: 500   f/3.5   1/60

The other day I got an assignment to take pictures of like 5 people at desks for a yearbook story. The top picture is of Alec Campinini and the bottom is of Brianna Johnson. There really isn't much to talk about with these two pictures except that I got at a different angle. On Alec's picture I knelt down and got to the side of his desk but on Brianna's picture I didn't kneel down as much and I shot her straight on.

Nickyyyy Pooo!

ISO: 500   f/4.0   1/200sec

There an online newspaper assignment to take a headshot of Nick Christen. I believe they did a story on him playing football and maybe about he concussion he got at the Texas Arkansas game, but I'm not exactly sure the story. Anyway, he was in Mrs. Teeters class who is upstairs in the math and science building. Since it was extremely cold outside I decided not to make him go outside but instead to take it above the stairs. I decided to make it a little more interesting by using the rule of thirds and placing him on the right side of frame.

El Tigre Cafe

ISO: 400    50mm    f/4.0    1/50sec

The teacher across the hall came in the photography room one day right before Christmas break and asked if we could take pictures of her students at their lunch thingy. Caroline and I went across and room pictures. The food definitely look very good and it looked like they worked very hard. I went into the back to get the students who were still cooking and the ones who were cleaning. I like this picture because it has pretty nice framing with the pots around her face. I also like the angle I was at. I knelt down and took it instead of just standing up and shooting down on her.

Defense!

ISO: 2000   f/5.0   1/250sec

This was one of my first basketball games and I was behind the goal when the ball went out of bounds. When I noticed our player's face when she approached the girl throwing in the ball. I stood up and took this really quick before she threw in the ball. I really like how I was able to capture the player's face. But I wish I would have taken it horizontally so there would have been more room on the other side of her left hand.
